STRONG TAKE UP POSITION AS ACADEMY MANAGER IN YOUTH DEVELOPMENT
Greg has agreed to take over as Academy manager for the forthcoming season and beyond. Greg's role will be to further develop the football side of the dynamic
community programme and also enhance the Academy set up. Rhyl Academy currently run teams from under 9 through to under 16.
'Our long term plan is to produce home grown players, there is some excellent local talent within Rhyl and by working with them we hope to develop them into 1st team players. I am fully aware of each squad and also impressed with the under 14's tournament win in France beating Gillingham in the semi final' stated Strong.
'It is essential that our loyal fans see that we are working on giving local players the best opportunity to develop at Rhyl'.
'It was essential to get Greg into the Youth Development role so that he has overall control on all football matters within the club, with Greg's experience it will also
develop our young enthusiastic coaches at a faster rate'.
WILLOW NEXT TO STAY PUT AT RHYL
Exciting winger Chris Williams also stays put after agreeing a 2 year deal for Greg's ever developing squad. "Chris performed well last season and has the bit of
quality that we need in the tight games to unlock the defences" stated Strong.
Chris made 50 appearances at Stockport County and also had a loan spell at Grimsby before signing for Northwich Victoria. He joined Rhyl from Fleetwood Town last August and scored four goals in 21 (+6) league appearances
Rhyl fans will be please to hear that both Shaun
Dowling and Andy Pearson have both signed two year deals.
20 year old Shaun Dowling who plays centre-back, who was released from Chester City in 2008/2009 promptly signed for Rhyl and made 22 league appearances.
21 year old Andy Pearson who is a winger, was a regular for Bolton Wanderers' youth and reserve teams and scored three goals from 12 appearances last season.
